Kayak Club to Run Annual Clinic

It's back by popular demand! The North Shore Kayak Club has scheduled its annual clinic for Thursday evening, June 7th, at 7:00 PM at the Port Washington Town Dock. The clinic is designed to provide a broad overview of recreational, flat-water kayaking. It is specifically targeted to beginning and novice kayakers, as well as those with no kayaking experience who are interested in learning more about this enjoyable and relaxing activity. The rain date is Monday, June 11th at 7:00 PM.

Among the topics to be addressed by instructor Seth Ehrlich are: the different types of basic equipment, including kayak and paddle options; the proper method of entering and exiting a kayak; basic paddling strokes; and, essential safety equipment and precautions. As this will be a demonstration and lecture, it is not necessary for attendees to bring any equipment. Several club members will be in their kayaks demonstrating the techniques that Seth will be explaining. There is no charge for this event.

The North Shore Kayak Club is a not-for-profit organization now in its sixth year of existence. Its members are dedicated to enjoying our beautiful, local waterways and the camaraderie of paddling together. Monthly meetings are held at the Port Washington Public Library; with the next meeting scheduled for Tuesday, June 12th at 7:30 pm. Club outings are held from May through October, primarily on Long Island. For further information, please contact Alan Bergman at (917) 400-7041.
