Froccaro Named All-American

Port Washington senior lacrosse star Jake Froccaro leads Vikings to Nassau Class A semifinals Tuesday.

It’s been a memorable week for Jake Froccaro.

The senior led the Vikings past the reigning state champs in the first round of the playoffs, . 

Then Under Armour announced its All-American teams Thursday and Froccaro, a midfield headed to Princeton, was name to the North team. He’ll play in the All-American game June 30 at 8 p.m. at Towson.

But first he has another big game ahead. The Vikings have won five of their last six games, dating to an April 25 loss to Massapequa. No. 5 Port (9-7) faces No. 1 Massapequa in the Nassau Class A semifinals Tuesday at 5:30 p.m. at Hofstra’s Shuart Stadium (tickets $6). 

Froccaro, one of the best faceoff specialists anywhere, led the way with 60 goals and 14 assists this season.
