Port Washington Girls Gymnastics Team Triumph Over a Talented Valley Stream Central Squad

The Port Washington girls gymnastics team has been putting in a total team effort whether at practice or in meets. This was certainly evident when the Vikings defeated a talented Valley Stream Central High School squad at on Friday.
Port Washington delivered a steady strong preformance across the board, enabling them to edge out Valley Stream Central, 130.15 to 127.05. Carolyn Nevins placed second in vaulting with a score of 7.6. Jessica Medaglia placed second in the uneven bars with a score of 7.0 and third in the floor excercises with a score of 7.2. Allison Stewart placed second on the balance beam with a score of 6.8
Jessica Betts of Valley Stream Central was superb all night winning every category with a high score of 8.85 in the floor excercises, an 8.4 in the balance beam, an 8.25 vaulting and a 7.3 on the uneven bars.

Prior to the victory, Port Washington stood in fifth place in Conference 2. With the victory they move to fourth with three wins and four losses. Stay tuned, as the Vikings strive toward a steady climb up towards the top of the bar this season.
