Port Washington Sports Notebook: Jan. 14-20

There are so many sports out in the Port Washington area, it can be a full-time job just sifting through all of the action. Luckily, you have Patch and we will get you caught up in one convenient place each week.

Here’s what the local Port Washington teams have been up to this week:

Boys Basketball: Port Washington edged out Plainview JFK 55-52 in overtime on Jan. 15 when Joey Alagna hit a layup with 45 seconds left as well as a few freethrows. Plainview JFK trailed by 3 points with 38 seconds left in the game when Chris Tracz hit a FG to tie the game and force the extra frame. Ryan Kriftcher hit 24 points for Port Washington and 9 rebounds.

On Jan. 18 Port Washington was clipped by Baldwin 52-51. Kriftcher had 22 points in the contest and Matt Siegel contributed 14. Baldwin clinched its 13th consecutive playoff birth with the win.

Girls Basketball: Port Washington dominated Plainview JFK 54-22 on Jan. 15. Megan Murphy had 14 total points and 4 assists and Christina Leonard contributed an additional 12.

Port Washington is currently in third place with a 3-3 record and 5-6 overall.

Boys Bowling: Jameson Santelli had a 200 and Chris Goh had a 201 in their third games to help Port Washington over Great Neck North on Jan. 7.

Port Washington is in third place with a 2-4 conference record and 3-4 overall.
