Port Wrestling Kicks off Strong Season

Sam Goldman named outstanding wrestler at recent tournament.

Port Washington Wrestlers started off their season with a strong showing at the recent Hank Paris Memorial Tournament. The Vikings placing a total of 10 wrestlers, including four finalists. 

Coaches selected Sophomore Sam Goldman as the tournament's outstanding wrestler. Other outstanding performances were made by Captain Chris Castillo who took a hard fought second place. Junior Nick Dilucia Champion at 145 lbs and 8thgrader Henry Burns who fought his way into the finals took 2nd place.

Other place winners included Thomas Maraboli, Captain Tony Kim, Joe Betz, Denis McDonnell, Anton Livshin and Austen Hanover.  

“All place winners have been busy putting in extra work during the off-season and earned their accolades,” said Coach Schettino.

The team is looking forward to a solid season.
