The NPD Group to Purchase In-Stat

The Port Washington firm expects to broaden its footprint in the mobile and digitial entertainment sector through the acquisition.

, a Port Washington-based market research firm, has agreed to purchase In-Stat, an Arizona-based research company. NPD is not disclosing the amount of the purchase, a spokeswoman said.

The acquisition is expected to broaden NPD's footprint in the mobile and digitial entertainment sector in which In-Stat is already established.

NPD already owns DisplaySearch, which offers analyst, consulting and data services regarding flat panel displays, equipment and related materials.

"By combining information and services from DisplaySearch and In-Stat, we will be able to offer the industry a complete view of the digital world, including analysis of how digital content is affecting the evolving hardware market," stated Tim Bush, general manager of The NPD Group's Analyst Services. 

NPD also provides products and services in other industries, including automotive, beauty, commercial technology, consumer technology, entertainment, fashion, food and beverage, food service, home, office supplies, software, sports, toys, and wireless.
