LIRR: Weekend Track Work on Port Washington Line

Buses and vans to transport passengers; Manhasset's Bayview Ave road closed.

If you're traveling by train this weekend – or even planning to drive on Bayview Avenue in Manhasset on your way in or out of Port Washington – take note.

The Long Island Rail Road will be replacing bridge timbers on the
Manhasset Viaduct, spanning over Bayview Avenue in Manhasset. As a safety precaution, the LIRR has announced:

  • Bayview Ave will be closed in both directions in the area directly under the viaduct during Saturday and Sunday. Motorists should follow posted detour signs.
  • Port Washington passengers can pick up a copy of the special Port Washington Branch timetable, “Manhasset Viaduct Bridge Timber Replacement Track Work,” or view the same special timetable on the MTA website.
  • Buses will replace trains after the arrival of the last train at Great Neck at 12:53 a.m. on Saturday through 12:07 a.m. Monday.
  • Westbound passengers will board buses and vans for Great Neck up to 25 minutes earlier than train times.  Eastbound passengers will transfer to buses and vans at Great Neck.
