Nov. 1: A Local Coat Drive and Film Noir

Doings around Port Washington

Monday marks the start of a coat drive, and also means movie night, Frank Sinatra and more.

1. November's chill is perfect weather for the first day of the Port Washington community coat drive. Bring your gently used coats, hats, scarves,  boots and blankets in good condition to the former Little Gym location at the Soundview Marketplace. For more information or to volunteer contact Paula Whitman  (whitman1@optonline.net)  or Linda Weil (weil@optonline.net). Coats will be distributed Nov. 4 through Nov. 6.

2. The November Noir series kicks off at the Port Washington Public Library. Monday's film is "The Locket," which debuted in 1946. It has a femme fatale and scores of flashbacks and stars Laraine Day, Brian Aherne, Robert Mitchum, Gene Raymond and Ricardo Cortez. Showtime is 7:30 p.m.
