Hurricane Irene blew through Long Island, leaving Port Washington to clean up in the aftermath.

It was a storm like no other.

The threat of a hurricane sent Long Islanders scrambling for supplies and to secure property. Then the fear of flooding forced some to evacuate.

And finally Hurricane Irene hit Long Island early Sunday. Port Washington weathered the storm mostly intact. Trees and power lines fell. There was flooding. But there was no loss of life.
