Town Of North Hempstead Contenders Square Off At Town-Hall-Style Event

Tuesday's Meet the Candidate Night Was Moderated by the League of Women Voters.

Contenders faced off at the Meet the Candidates event on Tuesday at the Unitarian Universalist Congregation at Shelter Rock.

Moderated by the League of Women Voters, the event was held in a town hall style format, giving voters the chance to hear the candidates address the issues that matter to them.

Some of the upcoming highlights will include the discussion between Supervisor Jon Kaiman, D-Great Neck, and Lee Tu, R-Albertson. They answered questions about the building department’s past corruption, current record, and plans for the future; taxes; backgrounds; grant applications; campaign contributions and more.

In the race for county legislator, 11th district, contender Eric Zausner, R-Port Washington, and incumbent Wayne Wink, D-Roslyn, debated methods for raising money on county properties.

In the race for receiver of taxes, incumbent Charles Berman, D-Roslyn Heights, and contender Jane Centrella, R-New Hyde Park, focused on their different backgrounds and how they would find efficiencies in the department.

As they made their case for a potential spot on town council, 6th District, Dina DeGiorgio, R-Port Washington, and incumbent Fred Pollack, D-Port Washington, covered the building department, , Roslyn Country Club and more. 

Contenders for town council, 4th District, Republican candidate Jeffrey Bass, R-Great Neck, and Anna Kaplan, D-Great Neck, debated the building department, taxes and upcoming road work on Plandome Road.

In the race for town council, 10th district, Incumbent Judi Bosworth, D-Great Neck, and contender Elizabeth Berney, R-Great Neck, discussed the Nassau Coliseum and redistricting.
