Dave Franklin Elected Police Commissioner

Board of Police District Commissioners will certify election at 5 p.m.

The results are in. Dave Franklin has won the election in a five-way race for Port Washington police commissioner. According to the Port Washington Police District, the Board of Police District Commissioners will certify the election at 5 p.m. 

In thanking supporters, Franklin said, "This is all about transparency and getting everyone involved. That was definitely the plan."

"The election was a well-run process, and the community has spoken," said Police Commissioner Angela Lawlor Mullins. "This proves that democracy is alive and well in Port Washington."

Franklin ran on a platform of open communication, saying that he was against proposed plans to build a new police headquarters on Channel Drive, but stressed the need for a new building. 

Franklin received 438 votes, and will begin his role as commissioner on Jan. 1.
