LWV Hosts Meet Your Congressman Event

League of Women Voters invites the public to meet Rep. Steve Israel on April 23.

The League of Women Voters invites the public to learn first-hand what is happening in Washington by meeting Rep. Steve Israel, D-Huntington, on Wednesday, April 23, at 7 p.m. at the Manhasset Public Library.

Although Israel has served in the House of Representatives since 2001, he has only represented many of the the North Shore communities on Long Island and Queens, as part of his new Third Congressional District since redistricting took effect in 2012.  The League has invited him to come provide an inside view of Washington and to learn more about voters' concerns and priorities.

Israel will discuss a diverse range of topics including education, Alzheimer’s research, middle-class tax inequities and his initiatives to position Long Island for the 21st Century.

The meeting is open to all and offered free of charge by the League as a public service to the community.  All Third Congressional District constituents are encouraged to attend and to come armed with thought-provoking questions.

Coffee and dessert will be served. The Manhasset Library is located at 30 Onderdonk Avenue, off Northern Boulevard, in Manhasset. For additional information, call 516-883-0698 or e-mail jane.thomas107@gmail.com.
The League of Women Voters of Port Washington-Manhasset, serving the North Shore of Nassau and Queens Counties, is a nonpartisan organization open to both men and women. Learn more by visiting lwvofportwashington-manhasset.org.
