Smith Resigns from Manorhaven Village Board; Farrington Appointed New Trustee

Noelle Smith, who was elected a trustee in June, resigned from the position July 25.

appointed Dorit Zeevi-Farrington to fill the vacancy at the village board meeting on Thursday.

“I resigned last week due to personal reasons,” Smith told Patch.

She added, “I wish Mayor Giunta and the board the very best and wish them well."

Village attorney Charles Casolaro said Smith’s resignation was unexpected. He called any rumors circulating that Smith was forced out “nonsense,” adding “nobody suggested she resign.”

Zeevi-Farrington, 51, grew up in Israel and has lived in Manorhaven for six years.

According to her bio, Zeevi-Farrington is a former first lieutenant for the Israeli Israel Defence Forces service. She earned an MBA in finance and international business at New York University’s Stern School of Business and a BBA in finance and investments from Baruch College. 

She served as first vice president and director of trading research at Instinet Corporation from 1993-2003. Currently, she is president and co-founder of Manhattan Steamboat Company LLC, Star of America Charters LLC and Aboard Citi Yachts LLC, which provides private yacht charters in the New York Harbor and Long Island Sound.

Active in the cell tower fight since Oct 2009, Zeevi-Farrington ran for as trustee for the Manorhaven Revival Party in 2010, alongside Giunta and Trustee Mark Lazarovic.
