Joy of Reading at Guggenheim Elementary School

Port Washington community leaders read with students.

What could be better than story time? Guggenheim Elementary School students embraced the joy of reading, with the fourth annual People As Reading Partners (PARP) program in March.

As a way to encourage parents to read with their children at least 15 minutes per day, the school turned reading into a community event.

On the evening of March 15, students dressed in pajamas, and traveled from classroom to classroom, where parent volunteers read them stories. They also participated in a scavenger hunt related to the stories they heard.
