May 11: Revitalization, Vikings And A Saturday House Tour

Happenings in Port Washington.

1. North Hempstead's Business & Tourism Development Corporation is offering a free “Downtown Revitalization” seminar on May 11th at 8:15am at the Clubhouse at Harbor Links. Get the details on .

2. The Friends of Library's  43rd annual Book & Author Luncheon is Friday at 11 a.m. at a new venue, the North Hills Country Club on the LIE North Service Road. . 

3. Needed: donations of clothes, shoes, furniture, appliances and household items. All proceeds to benefit HomeFreeHome.org, which its holding it 5th annual Mother’s Day weekend fundraiser at 11 Mill Pond Road. Volunteers needed too. .

4. Spend time Saturday at the Thomas Dodge Homestead. The 1721 home will throw open its doors to the public from 1-5 pm for an open house, offering a glimpse of life in the 1700’s. Light refreshments will be served, and visitors can meet the beekeeper who produces local honey from beehives on the Dodge property. Local honey will be available for tasting and for sale. Also on display –a vintage outhouse (a “three-seater”) – the last of its kind in town.  .

5. Go Vikings! Port takes on North Shore in girls lacrosse. , 4:30 p.m.
