Turkey Trot Draws Biggest Turnout Ever

Runners of all ages take to the the street.

More than 2,300 runners – some from as far away as Chicago and Miami – took to the streets for the Port Washington Thanksgiving Day 5-mile Run

Placing first was Schreiber graduate Marco Bertolotti, 18, who now runs for Stanford University, and holds every record in Port Washington distance running. 

Bertolotti ran the course in 26 minutes, 51 seconds. On his heels were Dennis Fliller, 21 of Rocky Point, NY, (27:02) and Jimmy Luehrs, 17, of Reston, VA, (27:10). Taylor Titcomb, 16, and Sidharth Kakkar, 15, tied for fourth at 28:16.

In the women's category, Noni Acceturi, 36, of Port Washington (32:02) placed first, followed by Melissa Moschetto, 29, of Long Beach (33:20), and Jacqueline Caufield, 46, of Port Washington (33:33). Complete results of the race are available online. 

Runners and nearly 100 volunteers were there to back the Community Chest, which supports nonprofit Port Washington programs such as services for senior citizens, children and teenagers, victims of domestic violence and others in need.
