No Swimming at North Shore Beaches Tuesday

North Hempstead Beach Park is one of many North Shore beaches where swimming is prohibited.

Monday's stormy weather may have cooled off Port Washington, but now it also raised concern about increased bacteria levels in swimming areas.

Because of this, the Nassau County Department of Health has closed down swimming at North Shore beaches.

According to Nassau County, swimming is prohibited at the following beaches:
  • Centre Island Sound
  • Creek Club
  • Lattingtown Beach
  • Laurel Hollow Beach
  • Morgan Sound
  • North Hempstead Beach Park
  • Piping Rock Beach Club
  • Prybil BeachRansom Beach
  • Roosevelt Beach
  • Sea Cliff Village Beach
  • Soundside Beach
  • Stehli Beach
  • Tappen Beach

Officials said beach closures like these are usually lifted within 24 hours.
