Farmers' Market at Town Dock Opens Saturday

Just-picked vegetables, fresh-caught fish, freshly-baked muffins and delicious organic coffee are just a few of the reasons to stop by the Port Washington Farmers' Market, which resumes again Saturday morning.

The market is also a gathering spot for foodies, families and friends who find it the perfect spot for catching up after a long work week.  Located on the Town Dock, the market is open every Saturday morning from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m.

"The farmers’ market is one of our local projects, along with the Dodge Farm,” says longtime resident Patti Wood, executive director of the non-profit Grassroots Environmental Education, which sponsors the market. "We work on issues related to environmental health, sustainability and organic food, so this gives us an opportunity to practice what we preach. “

The regulars will be pleased to know that Amy’s chocolate sourdough twists are coming back this season, and again this year we will have local artisans displaying and selling their work at the market.

The Port Washington Farmers' Market is the only 100 percent organic market in New York State, and is supported in part by the Port Washington Community Chest. For information, call Leah Munsey at Grassroots at 883-0887.
